Black History Month is in February, but the time to shop at and support Black-owned businesses?

That’s all year long.

The good news is that in recent years, Black-owned businesses have been booming, according to the latest U.S. Census report measuring growth from 2018 to 2019.

“In 2019, there were 134,567 Black-owned employer businesses (businesses with more than one employee) in all sectors of the U.S. economy, an 8% hike from the 124,551 Black-owned employer businesses in 2018,” read the report.

However, there is still so much more work to be done when striving for equality in the business world. According to the Federal Reserve, “in 2019, the median net worth of white families was $188,200 — 7.8 times that of their Black peers, at $24,100,” read a report by Brookings.edu.

So what can we do? Well, since you are already here and clearly love to online shop — that is exactly what you can do!
